Five reasons a chronology game beats another four-answer quiz.

1. You place the cards, you don't pick a letter.
Each round deals five events from the collection you chose. They arrive shuffled. Move them up and down until the oldest sits at the top, then check. Guessing between A, B, C and D is not a skill. Working out whether the Parthenon went up before or after Marathon is.

2. The answer is the lesson.
Check the order and every card opens: the year, and a line about what actually happened. Cyrus the Great enters Babylon, 539 BC, and Persia takes the largest city in the world without a siege. You lose a round and still come away with something.

3. Sixty entries, five collections, no repeats to pad it out.
The Ancient World. Invention and Discovery. The Space Age. The Modern Century. Voyages and Frontiers. Twelve entries each, all dated, all written out rather than scraped. Pick the era you feel weak on and stay there.

4. There is an almanac, not just a scoreboard.
Every collection can be read straight through in date order, from the Great Pyramid to a rover landing in Gale Crater. Read it before a round, or after one, or instead of one.

5. It counts what matters and then leaves you alone.
Rounds played, perfect rounds, current streak, longest streak, cards placed correctly, and a best score per collection. No daily reminder, no lives that refill in four hours, no account. The app ships with one permission — the short buzz when you check a round — and nothing to sign into.
