User Reviews

Overall: Flickr's Android app is praised for being a strong platform for photographers, with a large, inspiring community and good cross-device usage (including older devices). However, users repeatedly report critical reliability issues: uploads often fail or duplicate, long wait times; analytics (Stats) frequently appear blank; performance problems like slow loading, blank screens, and occasional crashes persist across versions. Pricing changes and aggressive pro-upgrade prompts are a major grievance, with some users feeling priced out or forced into Pro to follow accounts. These drawbacks overshadow otherwise positive aspects for many power users.
Pros
  • Excellent platform for photographers to share high-quality images and get global inspiration from a creative community.
  • Great for showcasing your work and discovering others' photography from around the world.
  • Works on older devices, offering broad compatibility for a range of users.
  • Often regarded by users as a top photography site with strong community features.
Cons
  • Uploads frequently fail, are duplicated, or take very long to complete, with issues reported on various devices (including Pixel phones).
  • Stats/analytics page is consistently blank or not visible in the app across multiple versions.
  • General reliability and performance problems persist (crashes, blank screens, slow loading) across updates.
  • Pro pricing changes and aggressive upgrade prompts; many users feel priced out or pressured to upgrade just to follow accounts.
  • Sign-up/login onboarding issues and occasional difficulties getting started.

Great friendly community! I just wish it was still Canadian!

It's the best app for photographers but it's very slow. I feel like it's been abandoned by the creators of this platform.

Update: Unfortunately I had to remove some stars for how they have chosen to implement the admittedly dreadful UK's OSA. Apparently I can no longer access groups I've been a member of for over a decade. My near 20 year old account unlike other websites doesn't count as reasonable age assurance unlike other websites.
