User reviews
Dear My Cat offers cute, relaxing gameplay with charming graphics and a steady progression system. Players enjoy the customization and casual nature of the game. However, many find the intrusive and lengthy advertisements disrupt the experience, with persistent banner ads and popups being particularly disliked. Technical glitches, crashes, and issues with multiplayer features also frustrate users. While the game is playable without spending money, some feel the pricing for in-app purchases is excessive. Overall, it's an adorable and calming game held back mainly by aggressive advertising and technical problems.
Pros
- Very cute and relaxing game with charming graphics and adorable cats.
- Gameplay is calming and allows for casual, multitasking play.
- No real need to spend money; game is enjoyable without purchases if ads are accepted.
- Collection and customization of cats with accessories is enjoyable.
- Regular progress without major grinding, maintaining steady gameplay.
Cons
- Excessive and intrusive advertising, including popup ads at start and a persistent banner ad on top of the screen.
- Ads can be very long and sometimes disrupt gameplay, including opening other apps or causing crashes.
- Some technical issues like lag, glitches with graphics, and crashing on load screens are common.
- In-game features like visiting other players' islands are buggy or do not load properly, blocking progress.
- Monetization seen as predatory with overpriced in-app purchases and subscriptions.

I find myself playing this game less and less after the more recent updates. I've played it for a few years now and the popup in game advertising has gotten ridiculous, you get four right when you open the game and have to press a tiny button to not get them for the rest of the day. Then you get another popup with the photo mission 🙄 I do wish that for those of us who purchase the ad skip tickets, it would also remove the ad banner at the top of the screen that was recently added.

New review 08/23/24: I used to love this game and play it every day, but the latest update now has a banner add going across the top of the screen constantly. It's so distracting I've had to stop playing. Sad to lose a game I've invested money and time into due to unplayability. old review: Very cute, pretty calming actually. Lots of ads if you want to do things a bit faster, but that's not too bad.
