Animals Nom Nom

Animals Nom Nom is a falling-block puzzle game inspired by the arcade classic Baku Baku Animal.

Pairs of blocks fall from the top of an 8×14 playfield. Each block is either an animal or a food. When an animal lands directly next to its matching food (orthogonally adjacent — above, below, left, or right), the animal eats the food and both blocks disappear from the board.

Every animal has a favorite food, and each pair shares a color-coded tile so you can spot matches at a glance:

🎮 How It Plays

Two blocks fall together as a pair — move them left/right, rotate to swap their positions, soft-drop to speed them down, or hard-drop to slam them instantly.
Each block type is randomized independently, so a pair can be animal+food, animal+animal, or food+food.
If only one block of a pair lands on something, it locks into the grid while the other continues falling as a single piece.
A brief lock delay lets you slide or rotate at the last moment before a piece locks in place.

🔥 Chain Reactions & Scoring
Eating triggers a cascade: after matched blocks vanish, blocks above fall down due to gravity, potentially creating new animal-food adjacencies. Each successive eat in the same chain doubles the score multiplier — 2×, 4×, 8×, up to 16×. Chains of depth 2+ also trigger screen shake and particle bursts for satisfying feedback.

📈 Difficulty Ramp
The fall speed gradually increases over 2 minutes of active play, from 1× up to 2.5×, keeping the pressure on as your board fills up.

🏆Goal
Survive as long as possible, score as many points as you can, and beat your high score. The game ends when a new pair can no longer spawn because the top of the board is blocked.
