Features & Capabilities

Where Am I counts how many days you spend in each country, so you always know where you stand against tax-residency thresholds like the 183-day rule — without maintaining a spreadsheet or trying to remember every trip.

HOW IT WORKS
• Automatic detection — Where Am I periodically checks your GPS and mobile network to determine which country you're in, a few times a day, and logs it. You choose how often (every 1, 4, or 8 hours) and which signal to use.
• Manual trips — add or correct a trip by hand any time, with a searchable country picker and date range.
• Google Timeline import — already have Google's Timeline history? Import it once to backfill past travel instead of re-entering it.
• Every raw signal is kept as a Log you can review, group by day, and delete — nothing is hidden or auto-confirmed without a way to check it.

DASHBOARD
See a day count per country for any year, as a bar chart or table, with a clear marker for the 183-day line and an indicator the moment a country crosses it.

EXPORT
Generate a CSV or a clean PDF report suitable for handing to an accountant, or export a full JSON backup of every trip and log for safekeeping.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Where Am I has no account, no login, and no cloud sync. Every trip and log stays in a local database on your phone. Nothing is uploaded anywhere — the app has no server to send it to. You control export: CSV, PDF, and backup files are only created when you tap the button, and only go where you choose to save them.

WHY BACKGROUND LOCATION
Counting days accurately requires knowing where you are even on days you don't open the app — that's the entire point of the app. Background checks are infrequent (as infrequent as every 8 hours, your choice), stay on-device, and can be turned off any time in Options.

Where Am I is a personal tool for people who travel enough that tax residency isn't a formality — expats, remote workers, and frequent travelers who need a defensible, day-by-day record.
