The project Uttarakhand Government Assets Management System (UKGAMS) is envisaged by Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC) for implementing across the state with geo-smart technologies for land use and infrastructure monitoring to achieve
• Monitor and safeguard the government land and protect against encroachments.
• Monitoring changes in and around the government land
• Improve Departments resource performance by integration of activities
UK-GAMS addresses the critical challenges of encroachment on government land and the absence of transparency and accountability by leveraging cutting-edge technology.

UK-GAMS is an AI-based geospatial monitoring system that digitizes and geo-fences government assets, monitoring them effectively using high-quality satellite data and an in-house AI model. The platform integrates AI-powered geospatial monitoring, designed to digitise, geofence, and proactively track government-owned land assets using high-resolution satellite imagery (50 cm) and advanced AI/ML models. The initiative addresses the challenges of land encroachment, lack of transparency, and accountability through advanced technology. This recognition not only brings immense pride to Uttarakhand but also establishes a national benchmark on how AI and satellite technology can be deployed to enhance transparency, prevent encroachment, and enable proactive governance. UK-GAMS stands as a replicable model, offering valuable insights for other states and sectors striving to safeguard public assets and usher in a digitally driven governance era. The ground level implementation model is also important behind the success of this system.

Uttarakhand Government Assets Management System (UK-GAMS) received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024 under the “Innovation – State” category. The award is also a testament to the dedication of the Uttarakhand Space Applications Centre (USAC) team of scientists, whose contributions have been key in implementing this project.
