In mathematics, a second degree or quadratic equation is an algebraic equation with a single unknown that appears with degree equal to 2. For the fundamental theorem of algebra, the solutions (also called roots or zeros of the equation) of the equations of second degree in the complex field they are always 2 possibly coincident; in the real field instead the quadratic equations can admit 2 solutions, possibly coincident, or no solution.
