Epic Authenticator Android

Epic Authenticator

The Epic Authenticator app provides two-factor authentication for your Epic EHR.

Features & Capabilities

The Epic Authenticator Chrome extension enhances the security of your Epic electronic health record (EHR) system by enabling two-factor authentication (2FA). This extra verification step ensures that only authorized users can access the Epic platform, protecting sensitive medical data.

When logging into Epic, users receive a notification on their phone to confirm their identity. You can simply tap the notification to complete your login, or enter a temporary passcode generated by the app if you miss the alert. Note that your organization must enable two-factor authentication and enroll your device in the Epic system before use. Check with your organization's IT help desk for setup guidance and to start using enhanced login security today.

User Reviews

Most reviews describe reliability problems: inconsistent 2FA notifications and token entry failures, QR scan issues, long delays and invalid/expired codes, and multi-device complications where the first linked device must always verify. A few users note occasional success or Epic Software compatibility, but overall sentiment is negative due to persistent authentication failures.
Pros
  • It works when functioning as intended.
  • Works with Epic Software.
  • It helps me.
  • Amazing.
Cons
  • Inconsistent 2FA notifications and token entry failures (manual token often fails).
  • QR code scanning issues (inability to scan; distorted/non-existent QR codes).
  • Intermittent performance with long delays and codes that are invalid or expire.
  • Multi-device setup causes a primary device requirement: push verifications on the first device every time.
Recent reviews
horribly inconsistent 2FA notifications. Manual entry of the token rarely works. Wish we didn't have to use this to access Epic when so many other tech companies already have fully functional 2FA systems with barely any hiccups.

I cannot even scan a QR code with this app. It stretches everything so square QR codes appear as stretched rectangles, making it unable to even scan the provided QR codes.
