Review summary

Users appreciate the app's ability to record, amplify, and share heart and lung sounds in collaboration with the Eko stethoscope, highlighting improved sound quality and a generally simple interface. However, common complaints include frequent bugs and poor audio playback, limited Android functionality compared to iOS, requirement of constant internet connection to access recordings, cumbersome filter switching only possible via the app, and account creation issues. Users value customer support but desire more stable and user-friendly experiences, especially for prehospital and high-intensity clinical use.
Pros
  • The app allows recording and sharing of heart and lung sounds, which users find useful for collaboration and consultation.
  • The noise cancellation and audio filtering features significantly improve sound quality, especially in noisy clinical environments.
  • The app interface is generally considered simple and organized, making it relatively easy to navigate and use for basic functions.
  • The integration with the Eko Core stethoscope device enhances the clinical utility, providing amplified and clearer auscultation sounds.
  • Customer service has been responsive and helpful in resolving issues for some users.
Cons
  • The app frequently experiences bugs and glitches, including freezing, auto-recording loops, and poor audio playback quality.
  • There is inconsistent functionality between Android and iOS versions, with Android users lacking features such as background audio playback and library access.
  • Requirement for constant internet connectivity to record and access recordings frustrates users, especially when offline use is necessary.
  • Account creation has issues, including poor email validation and UI frustrations, which hinder user experience.
  • The app does not allow switching audio filters directly on the device, requiring multiple steps on the app, which is cumbersome in clinical settings.

Guys, do we really need to create an account and actually log into the app just to be able to access volume & sound filter controls? Not all of us are interested in recording snippets of audio for playback.
