Lexline – Word Search

Lexline hides its words in a grid of letters, and you find them by dragging a finger straight across the board, letter to letter, until the path you draw spells one. Lines run horizontally, vertically, and along both diagonals, and a few are tucked in backwards so the easy finds stay honest. Every puzzle is drawn from one of four word packs: Nature, Space, Weather, and Travel. Nature is rivers, meadows, and forests; Space holds comets, orbits, and far planets; Weather scatters frost, thunder, and the names of clouds; Travel gathers harbors, temples, and distant cities. You pick the pack first, so the grid in front of you always fits the mood you came in with.

Then you set the size. An 8x8 grid hides six words and clears quickly. A 10x10 raises that to eight. A 12x12 holds ten and rewards a slower, more deliberate scan. A counter at the top tracks how many of the targets you have caught so far, and when you trace one correctly its letters light up on the board with a soft ripple. The found word does not vanish from the list below; it stays put and simply dims, so you can always see what you have done and what is left.
