Overview

Features & Capabilities

Stop doomscrolling on Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, TikTok and the other social media apps you scroll for too long. Doom Saver puts a live screen time timer in the corner of the app: Grim, a small hooded knight who counts your minutes and slowly falls apart the longer you doomscroll. He starts calm. He does not stay calm.

If you want to reduce screen time, stop doom scrolling or break a phone habit without a strict app blocker or reels blocker, Doom Saver shows you the time while you are still in the app, not in a weekly report you never open. A social media timer you can see. Your doomscrolling has a witness.

HOW DOES DOOM SAVER WORK?

Grim greets you as you open a tracked app: "Visit 3 today. Last one ended 12 minutes ago." Then he stands in the corner, counting how long you have spent in there today. Drag him anywhere you like. Tap him for your total and the way out.

As your daily screen time adds up, he reacts:

30 minutes. Starting to worry.
1 hour. Dead inside.
90 minutes. The reaper arrives, crows and all.

He grows larger the longer you stay. Once the reaper appears, he is there for the rest of the day. There is no way to talk him out of it except closing the app.

IS IT AN APP BLOCKER?

No. Doom Saver never locks you out of an app. It is a screen time tracker you can see: an on screen timer and companion that makes the time you spend scrolling hard to ignore, so putting the phone down is your own decision.

SCREEN TIME REMINDERS YOU DID NOT ASK FOR

Every fifteen minutes he says something. They are not gentle.

"There is a window in this room. Look out of it."
"Your dishes have formed a small civilisation."
"The scroll is infinite. Your evening is not."

Fifty of them, dealt like a deck: every one comes up before any of them comes up twice, and the order changes each time round.

TASKS HE WILL NOT LET YOU FORGET

Write down the things you keep putting off and he reads them back to you while you scroll. Tap the reminder and he takes you straight to your to do list. Tick it off and he stops bringing it up. Two tasks at a time are free.

FREE SCREEN TIME STATS

See your screen time by day and by app, how often you open each app and your busiest hours, all worked out on your phone. A clear picture of your social media usage, with no account dashboard to dig through.

IS DOOM SAVER PRIVATE?

Yes. Doom Saver never sees what is on your screen. It only knows which app is open and for how long, which is all it needs. Your time, tasks, messages and photo are never sent to us. There is no feed, no streak to maintain, and nothing to scroll.

IS DOOM SAVER FREE?

Everything above is free, for good. Doom Saver Pro adds more of your own, and none of it is ever sent to us either:

Unlimited tasks, read back by Grim.

Your own messages, mixed in with his fifty. Remove any of the built in ones you are tired of.

Your photo as Grim's face. Choose a photo, frame it, and Grim wears it, all the way to the reaper. It is never sent to us and there is no way to share it from the app.

Choose how often Grim speaks, and for how long.

Buy it once, or subscribe monthly. The one off purchase is the one we would pick.

WHICH APPS DOES IT TRACK?

Instagram, TikTok, TikTok Global, X (Twitter), Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, Reddit, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Threads, Tumblr and BeReal. You choose which ones.

WHAT PERMISSIONS DOES IT NEED?

Usage Access, so the app knows which app is in front.
Display over other apps, so Grim can appear on top.
One quiet notification, which Android requires for background monitoring.
It does not use Accessibility, so it cannot read your screen, see what you type or tap anything for you.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Anyone who wants to spend less time on their phone, cut down on social media, focus better and get their evenings back. A digital wellbeing app with an attitude problem.

User Reviews

Have been struggling with doomscrolling lately and gave this a go. Found it pretty useful, especially to complete my to do list. Would definitely recommend

App UI is great and interaction is very smooth. It gives good control over the social media app usage at it comes over the screen and shows the time you are spending on . It also shows good interactive wordings which makes you feel it's time to do something good instead of doom scrolling. Just give a try and see the results.
