MolApp

MolApp is an interactive 3D molecular structure viewer for scientists, students and anyone curious about the shape of proteins and other biomolecules. It is built on the Mol* rendering engine, the same engine used by the RCSB Protein Data Bank.

LOAD STRUCTURES
• Enter a four-character PDB identifier (for example 1CLL or 1CRN) to fetch a structure directly from the RCSB Protein Data Bank
• Open a local .pdb or .cif file from your device — no network needed
• Structures render on the device; nothing you open is uploaded anywhere

REPRESENTATIONS
• Cartoon / ribbon for secondary structure
• Molecular surface
• Stick, ball-and-stick and space-filling spheres
• Apply a different representation per structure, ligand or selection

CONTROL AND ANALYSIS
• Colour structures, chains and selections by name
• Show or hide ligands, ions and water
• Measure distances between atoms
• Undo and redo any viewer change
• A command bar for quick text commands, alongside the regular menus

PRIVACY
MolApp does not collect, store or share any personal data. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising. The only network request the app makes is to fetch the public structure file you asked for from the RCSB Protein Data Bank.
