Perfect Pitch

Perfect Pitch is an ear-training app that runs entirely on your phone.

There is no account to create and no server behind it. Every session, every
score and every note you struggle with is written to a database on the device
and stays there. Put the phone in aeroplane mode and nothing changes: the
tones are generated on the spot and the scoring happens on your own CPU.

WHAT YOU PRACTISE

• Name that note — hear a tone, name it. The heart of absolute pitch.
• Name that interval — how far apart are two notes?
• Name that chord — major, minor, diminished, augmented, sus4 and the
seventh family.
• Sing the note — produce the note yourself and be scored live through the
microphone, to the cent.
• Review — only the notes you actually miss.

FOUR DIFFICULTIES

Beginner keeps to the seven white keys of one octave. Standard opens all
twelve semitones across three octaves. Advanced widens the range and shortens
the tone. Expert gives you 0.45 seconds across the full range — answer before
it fades.

IT LEARNS WHERE YOU ARE WEAK

Every answer updates that note's accuracy, your response time and which notes
you confuse it with. A spaced-repetition scheduler decides when each note
comes back: miss one and it returns in the same session; get it right
repeatedly and the gap widens. The review queue is built from your own
mistakes, not a fixed lesson plan.

A LIVE TUNER

Sing or play into the microphone and watch the needle. Pitch detection runs on
the device with a 128 ms window, refreshed twenty times a second, so the meter
moves as you move. Nothing is recorded — the audio is analysed and discarded
frame by frame.

A LOG OF EVERYDAY SOUNDS

A car horn, a bird, a kettle. Point the microphone at a sound and the app
works out its pitch, frequency and harmonic structure, then files it in your
sound log by category. Again, no recording is kept — only the analysis.

PROGRESS WITHOUT A LEADERBOARD

Twenty-one badges, personal bests and a practice-streak calendar. Every one of
them measures you against your own past. There is no ranking against other
people anywhere in the app, by design.

TUNED THE WAY YOU PLAY

Set the reference pitch anywhere from 415 to 444 Hz and every tone follows it
— useful if you play early music at 415 or with an orchestra at 442. Choose
between a piano voice and a pure sine wave, which has no overtones at all and
so tests whether you are hearing the pitch itself rather than the timbre
around it. Note names can be shown as sharps, flats or solfège.

FIVE LANGUAGES

English, Korean, French, German and Spanish. The app follows your device
language on first run and can be changed at any time in Settings.

YOUR DATA IS YOURS

Export your whole training record as a JSON file — save it straight to a
folder on the device, or share it wherever you like — and load it back on a
new phone. There is no cloud copy because there is no cloud.

Perfect Pitch is free and supported by a banner ad, shown only while you are
online and only after you have given consent.
