RATED GAMES
Rapid (15 minutes, +5 seconds a move) and Blitz (8 minutes, +3 seconds). Every game moves your rating, and the two are rated separately — a bad night at blitz leaves your rapid rating where it was.

4,800 PUZZLES FROM REAL GAMES
Every position is a moment where somebody actually blundered, taken from the Lichess puzzle database. They are rated by how real players did on them, they run from 646 to 2,875, and they cover forty motifs: forks, pins, skewers, deflection, back-rank and smothered mates, promotion, zugzwang, and every endgame type.

You play them out. Any legal move is allowed. While you follow the recorded line your opponent answers from the game it came from; leave the line and the engine takes over the defence. A puzzle is solved when you give mate, or when you win the material it promises — by your route, not only the recorded one.

Every line was replayed through the rules engine before it shipped, so no puzzle here contains an illegal move.

Sorted into easy, medium and hard, filtered by what you have already solved, and your progress lives on your account rather than on the phone.
