Snap Control Android

Snap Control

By: DimBro App
Point and snap to control Home Assistant devices. No cloud, no account.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Point your arm at a lamp. Snap your fingers. It turns on.

Snap Control lets you control your Home Assistant devices by pointing at them from your watch. No voice commands, no unlocking your phone, no scrolling through a dashboard. Raise your arm, aim, and snap.

Everything runs on the watch and talks directly to your own Home Assistant server. Nothing is installed on the Home Assistant side. There is no cloud service, no account, and no data leaves your network.

HOW IT WORKS

A watch knows which way your arm is pointing, but not where you are standing. So instead of learning one direction per device, Snap Control learns a direction per place you stand. Those places are called spots: the couch, the kitchen counter, the doorway.

You teach it by painting. Stand where you normally are, raise your arm, and lazily zigzag across the device for five seconds, going slightly past each edge like you are spraying paint around it. The watch learns both the centre of that sweep and how wide it is, so a television wall gets a wide target and a light switch gets a narrow one.

Paint the same device from a second spot and it gets its own independent entry. Devices can live on as many spots as you like.

FEATURES

- Point and snap to switch lights, plugs, media players, covers, locks and scenes
- Wrist flick as an alternative trigger, with adjustable sensitivity
- Spots: separate training per place you stand, for real accuracy
- Link Home Assistant presence sensors to spots so the watch knows where you are automatically
- Live aim radar on the phone showing every device around your pointing direction
- Correct a wrong guess on the watch with one tap, and it learns from it
- Watch tile for one-swipe on, off, pause and spot switching
- Adjustable range and separation, so ambiguity becomes silence instead of the wrong device

BUILT TO SAY NO

When two devices are too close to tell apart, Snap Control does nothing and buzzes instead of guessing. Every refusal shows a reason on the watch, so you always know why nothing happened.

WHAT YOU NEED

- A Wear OS watch with a compass, gyroscope and microphone
- An Android phone paired to it
- A Home Assistant server on your network and a long-lived access token

PRIVACY

Audio is analysed in a rolling buffer on the watch and never stored or transmitted. The microphone only opens while your arm is raised. Your trained directions stay in app-private storage on the watch. There is no analytics, no telemetry, and no third party involved.
