Q: How do I steer the sub?
A: Hold anywhere on the screen to blow the tanks and rise; let go to flood them and sink. One finger is all it takes, but the trench walls are close, so a gentle rhythm keeps the hull safe.

Q: What makes it tricky?
A: Air. The brass gauge drains every second, and faster the deeper you go. Hugging the high side of the trench saves air, while bubble clusters drifting along the way refill the tank. Further down, old sea mines hang on chains in the open caverns.

Q: How far down does it go?
A: Fifteen dives through five zones of ocean: the sunlit Sunlight Shelf, the fading Twilight Reef, the glowing Midnight Drop, the cold Abyssal Plain and the Hadal Trench, finishing at Challenger Deep, 11,000 metres down.

Q: What is there to collect?
A: Three oysters hold pearls on every dive. Take all three and that dive's creature swims past your porthole into the Specimens log, from the Clownfish and Manta Ray to the Sea Pig, Giant Isopod and Snailfish. Finish with the tank never under 30% to earn the third seal.

Q: What do doubloons buy?
A: New hulls in the Shipyard. Crew the little Yellow Pip, the riveted Nautilus, the Trieste, the winged Manta, the glowing Lantern or the Golden Fathom, eight subs in all.

Q: Is there a mode without a chart?
A: Yes. The endless trench has no bottom: the walls close in, bubbles grow scarce, and every ten metres you reach adds a doubloon.

Q: Do I need a connection or an account?
A: No. Deep Diver runs fully offline with no sign-in, no ads and no purchases. Doubloons are earned only by diving.

Q: Will it suit a tablet?
A: Yes. The portholes and gauges rescale to suit a big tablet screen as comfortably as a phone.

Q: The deep is too hard. Any help?
A: Switch on Big tank in Settings for a quarter more air.
