Deck of Days: Cozy Card Toss

A cozy card game about a deck, a hat, and a dim room.

Flick the top card spinning across the sitting room and into the hat on the table. There is no score to chase, no timer, no way to lose — just the cards, the hat, and the soft glow of the lamp.

Play one-handed, for a minute at the bus stop or an hour before sleep. When the deck runs out, it deals itself again.

Stay long enough, and the hat's owner may start to talk to you.

It offers things, in time. A hat that breathes. A draft that leans on every card you throw. A floor gone to ice. Older decks — the minor arcana, a herbarium, a tally kept through a long night. Other rooms to sit in — a cold shore, an old wood, a field of long grass under all the stars. Thirty things in all, each one yours to switch on or leave alone.

A calm, quiet game for one thumb and a dark evening.
