User Reviews

Users appreciate the app's simple interface and usefulness for color matching tasks when working. However, many report persistent problems with app crashes, Bluetooth connection failures, and limited paint brand libraries depending on region. Accuracy issues and the necessity of purchasing an expensive separate device also frustrate users. While some find it valuable for professional use, a significant number experience reliability and compatibility challenges.
Pros
  • Intuitive and simple to use interface.
  • Useful for quality assurance and production processes in defect control.
  • Provides color readings with RGB, Lab, and some paint brand matches when working properly.
  • Can save color palettes and make notes on colors.
  • Overall, a helpful color matching tool when functional.
Cons
  • Frequent app crashes, especially when calibrating or after recent updates.
  • Connectivity issues between the app and the Datacolor ColorReader device via Bluetooth, with many users unable to connect.
  • Limited and region-restricted paint brand libraries, lacking coverage in some countries like the Philippines and Europe.
  • Accuracy and consistency issues in color matching, sometimes leading to incorrect colors.
  • Requires separate hardware device which is costly and not usable standalone; the app alone does not perform color reading. Users were often unaware of this requirement.
Recent reviews
meh it's not very handy even for a reader. can't export the values, not even copy them for pasting. History only offers lab value. Opening the single reading offers more sets of values. There is no way to delete colours from history, no way to multiple select colours in a palette. Everything is cumbersome and not very well thought through.
