DashCam - Traffic

DashCam records constantly and keeps only what matters.

▎ A normal camera app fills your phone in an afternoon. DashCam holds a rolling window of the road behind you — 30 seconds, or up to 10 minutes, your choice — and continuously writes over anything older. Press Play once at the start of a drive and forget about it. When something happens, press Save and that entire window is written to permanent storage. Everything else is discarded.

▎ Saving never interrupts recording. The moment you tap Save, a fresh window starts, so the seconds after an incident are captured too.

▎ What you get

▎ • Rolling buffer — pick 30 seconds, 1, 2, 5 or 10 minutes. Settings shows the disk cost of each choice before you commit to it.
▎ • Save without stopping — the clip is merged in the background while recording continues.
▎ • Speed and position burned in — your GPS speed is drawn onto every frame next to the clock, in km/h or mph, and written to a JSON file alongside each saved clip. Optional, and the app works fully without it.
▎ • Front, rear, or both cameras — record the road, the cabin, or both at once where your phone supports it.
▎ • Quality from 360p to 4K — trade detail against how much footage fits in the loop.
▎ • Keeps running in the background — on Android a foreground notification carries working Save and Stop buttons. On iOS, a Lock Screen Live Activity does the same, and the screen is held awake in driving mode.
▎ • Clip library — play, share, or delete saved clips. Lock a clip to protect it from cleanup.

▎ Your footage stays on your phone

▎ There is no account, no server, and no network code in this app. Nothing is uploaded, ever — not the video, not the audio, not your location. No analytics, no ads, no tracking. Saved clips stay in the app's storage until you share them yourself through the system share sheet or delete them.

▎ Before you drive
▎
▎ Mount the phone where it sees the road, plug in power (continuous recording is demanding), and press Play. On iOS, recording requires the app to stay in front — the screen stays on for you — as iOS provides no background camera recording. On Android, recording continues with the app closed and the screen off.

▎ Permissions
▎
▎ Camera and microphone are required to record. Location is optional and used only for the speed stamp — refuse it and everything else still works. Notifications are used for the ongoing recording notice that carries the Save and Stop controls.
