Review summary

Users broadly praise FlashDim for easy setup, broad brightness control, saving levels to Quick Settings, and strong brightness across modes, with no ads. They also value startup behavior and the Morse code option. However, the app lacks color-changing capability and experiences compatibility issues on certain devices, keeping it from being perfect for all Android phones.
Pros
  • Easy to use with quick setup and easy addition to quick settings
  • Extremely flexible brightness control with a wide range and the ability to save a level to quick settings
  • Very bright with multiple modes and no ads
  • Works on devices lacking built-in brightness controls and can be used at startup, including when the battery is low
  • Morse code/SOS option adds extra usefulness
Cons
  • Missing color-changing options / lack of color customization
  • Inconsistent device compatibility on some phones (e.g., Poco M7 Pro and Motorola Edge 60 Fusion)

After Android 17 installed, error message on startup - Exception Occurred Camera Manager received illegal arguments, probably empty camera ID. After you click Roger, the app works with 21 levels of light versus the 45 it had before Android 17. Pixel 10 Pro XL with Android 17 and the latest security updates.

June 5th Google pixel 9 xl update broke this app. I can't get my volume buttons to turn on the flashlight anymore. they still turn off the flashlight though.

Niko (developer) do you read feedbacks? I tried emailing & it says it's undeliverable. This app "used" to be flawless until I updated my Pixel 10 Pro XL to Android 17. Now I get the error "Execution Occurred... Camera Manager received illegal arguments, probably empty camera id" then it shows "roger"on the lower right. Do you plan on fixing this issue or letting it go?
