User Reviews

Reviewers generally praise Colorado Trail Explorer for its extensive Colorado-specific information, useful navigation, offline maps, and free features. Repeated concerns include incomplete or outdated trail coverage, high battery consumption, and difficulties finding trails at the right map zoom. Some users also want phone landscape support. Overall, it is widely considered a valuable app for exploring Colorado, despite these data and usability limitations.

Pros

Broad, useful Colorado trail maps and information, including closures, land agencies, and other outdoor details.
Free access to many features that other apps may charge for, including downloadable map tiles.
Helpful navigation and location tracking on trails; several reviewers report accurate positioning and distance measurements.
Many reviewers find it clean, responsive, and a strong alternative to AllTrails for exploring Colorado.

Cons

Trail coverage and information can be incomplete or outdated; reviewers mention missing newer or less-official trails and gaps in search results.
Battery use is a recurring concern, with some reviewers reporting substantial drain during use.
Finding trails and map layers can be difficult: search may change the map zoom unexpectedly, and some routes disappear at wider zoom levels.
Phone landscape mode is unavailable, a limitation mentioned by multiple reviewers.
