Review summary

Users find ErgData useful and growing more reliable, with strong support and improved battery performance after updates. However, multiple users report ongoing battery drain for some scenarios, workouts failing to save or record, and syncing/logbook/API issues. Occasional regressions after updates also affect compatibility and features. Overall, the app is valued for workout tracking and integration, but stability and data-synchronization concerns recur across reviews.
Pros
  • Very helpful app for maximizing use of C2 ERG equipment and convenient workout/data tracking.
  • Generally reliable and improves over time; users report it works great and has come a long way.
  • Responsive support and quick issue resolution from the developers.
  • Recent updates have addressed battery drain, restoring better battery life.
Cons
  • Battery drain remains an issue for some users, especially after updates.
  • Workouts not saving or data not recorded due to disconnects or crashes.
  • Data syncing with Garmin Connect and logbook issues, plus API/data handling problems.
  • Updates can cause regressions or compatibility issues (e.g., breaking features or device compatibility).

I find the erg app logs my rows well. The main issue is that since the new Google Health app replaced the Fitbit app, it no longer syncs the same level of detail from my rows from the erg data app into Google health, like it used to with the Fitbit app. I'm not sure if this is down to Google or Concept2, but it's annoying to only have row duration or distance data syncing now, instead of split times, power output, stroke rate and other logbook data, like it used to.

I put off getting this app based on all of the bad ratings but now I wish I had downloaded this sooner. It has worked flawlessly for me with 6 workouts logged so far. I have been rowing for 3 years and recently I have not been enjoying it as much as I used to. When looking to shake things up, I found the workout of the day (WOD) and decided to try it. The app lets you skip all of the manual workout programming and sparks my competitiveness by showing how my performance compares to others.

Works reasonably well. Improvements: - Should save sessions by default, else sessions are lost if you forget to 'save' them at the end. - Displays 'cal' as a unit in the session summary. I think that should be 'Cal' or 'kcal'?

Functional and works well enough , connects to both my SkiErg and RowErg and runs/saves favourite workout routines. only thing which would be nice is upload from a machine to the cloud if it fails for whatever reason, this has to be done via USB . Apart from that it's all good , open the app and get going and it does it fine

I really like this app but the inconsistency is problematic. If the monitor powers down or disconnects for any reason, the whole workout session including detailed info is lost, requiring manual logbook entry. Maybe wifi or NFC connection could help and set the erg to force always on when paired? Or you should at least be able to access a specific session on memory to resync the splits instead of manual entry.

worse than useless. does not save workout data. if you click to save to logbook it just kicks you back to the workout screen and no data is saved..... workout lost. you'd think for such an apparently reputable brand they could make what is a very basic app work. but no. core functionality is useless!
