Challenge Types
Not workout-only:
Steps Challenges — total steps during the challenge period
Sleep Challenges — total sleep hours during the challenge period

Workout-only (scored only from logged workouts):
Active Minutes Challenges — total workout minutes during the challenge period
Distance Challenges — total workout distance during the challenge period
Calories Burned Challenges — calories burned during workouts during the challenge period

Workout Sub-Types (for workout-only challenges)

Running & Walking
Cycling
Swimming
All of the above

Tiered vs Non-Tiered
Non-Tiered: everyone competes in one leaderboard (challenge-period data only).
Tiered: Compete in balanced groups based on fitness level. For tiered challenges, we calculate tiers using your 6-month or 12-month average for the same challenge type (and workout sub-type, if applicable) immediately before the challenge begins.

How Tracking Works (for scoring + winners)
Compete Health syncs with Health Connect (and Google Fit on supported devices) to calculate progress, update leaderboards, and determine winners. This includes:
Steps (Steps challenges)
Sleep duration/sessions (Sleep challenges)
Exercise sessions (workout type + duration for workout-only challenges)
Workout distance (Distance challenges)
Workout calories burned (Calories Burned challenges)
No manual entry. Challenges are scored from passively tracked activity data synced through Health Connect.
