To promote better engagement of Elementary School students and teachers in English classes, Maker Education developed an augmented reality application with the aim of offering an immersive digital experience between the two universes, virtual and real.
Today, one of the biggest professional challenges in education is getting children's attention with countless digital distractions. So, we at Maker Education decided to add this AR technology to our English teaching materials as an educational tool. With augmented reality we can facilitate the understanding of topics in which the student is inserted, such as a dialogue in a restaurant, a picnic with the family, a nutritionist talking about healthy foods, etc. The teaching materials contain dialogues and stories that contextualize authentic language situations. In short, augmented reality increases engagement during classes, stimulates interactions between students during dynamics, and encourages creativity.
It is important to highlight that, when using Maker Education's augmented reality application, especially in the educational context for elementary school children, the attention and supervision of parents or guardians are essential.
