Color of Genes®

Color of Genes® is a community-centered health education platform dedicated to empowering BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), women, and other underserved communities with the knowledge, access, and support needed to navigate genetics, rare diseases, and personalized medicine. Rooted in advocacy, inclusion, and cultural understanding, Color of Genes® bridges critical gaps between these communities and the broader genetic health ecosystem—bringing awareness, trusted resources, and meaningful connections to those historically underrepresented in research and care.

At its core, Color of Genes® translates complex genetic concepts into clear, practical information that individuals and families can understand and use. The platform combines education with digital tools that expand access to equitable, culturally relevant genetic health information and connect users to care from providers who reflect and understand the communities they serve. Many hereditary conditions—such as ataxias, sickle cell disease, cardiomyopathies, and neurodegenerative disorders—disproportionately affect these populations, yet access to reliable guidance and culturally competent care remains limited. Color of Genes® works to close this gap through education, early awareness, and support for informed health decisions.

A central feature of the platform is its growing directory, designed to connect patients with medical providers and genetic counselors. Built with accessibility and inclusivity in mind, it helps individuals navigate complex health journeys and find trusted, culturally responsive care aligned with their lived experiences.

Color of Genes® also fosters community through educational content, storytelling, and partnerships that elevate underrepresented voices in genetic healthcare. By addressing barriers such as delayed diagnosis, limited access to services, and systemic disparities, the platform centers the needs of BIPOC, women, and underserved communities in advancing genetic health equity.
