Telugu Hanuman Chalisa

Hanuman Chalisa in Hindi is a super hit among Lord Hanuman (a symbol of peace and strength) devotees. Chalisa is derived from Chalis in Hindi, and so Hanuman Chalisa means 40 versus about Lord Hanuman.

M. S. Ramarao (July 3, 1921 - April 20, 1992) is an Indian singer and composer. He was popular for his devotional songs, especially sundarakandamu.

Shri M.S. Rama Rao gaaru translated Hanuman Chalisa from Hindi to Telugu and further composed a tune and sang it as well, for the benefit of the large Telugu speaking masses that were Hanuman devotees as well. This work of his did click well with the Hanuman devotees.

He gained fame for singing the devotional songs and was awarded the name of 'Sundara Dasu' in 1977.
