SkyFinder: Star & Planet Map

Find planets, stars and the Moon with a 3D sky map and live camera guidance.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Discover the sky around you with SkyFinder, a star map and planet finder for Android. Point your phone to find the Moon, planets and stars, or explore a colorful 3D sky map at your own pace.

POINT YOUR PHONE AT THE SKY
Choose an object for focused directional guidance. SkyFinder uses your current location, time and phone sensors to show where to look. Add your live camera view and adjust its visibility with a slim slider. At zero visibility, the camera switches off.

EXPLORE THE WHOLE SKY
Select Sky Map from the object picker to see 5,044 catalog stars, all 88 constellations, the Sun, Moon and seven other major planets. Textured planet illustrations and constellation lines help distinguish what you are viewing. A labeled horizon separates objects above and below your local horizon.

SWIPE AND ZOOM
Turn on Touch Mode to move around the sky with a swipe and pinch to zoom. Turn it off to follow your phone again. Touch Mode keeps the camera off.

FIND SOMETHING NEW
Search planets, named stars, constellations and HIP catalog entries. Switch from the complete sky map to a single object on the same screen. See altitude, direction and relevant object details; view the selected object's predicted sky path.

BUILT AROUND YOUR LOCATION
No account or manual location setup is required. Sky calculations and the included catalog work on-device. Camera imagery, precise location used for sky guidance and sensor readings are not uploaded by SkyFinder. Advertising providers process separate data as described in the privacy policy.

GOOD TO KNOW
Initial setup asks for camera and foreground location permissions. Phone-follow guidance needs compatible motion and compass sensors. SkyFinder calculates positions; it does not identify objects from camera images. Alignment depends on sensor quality, magnetic interference and location accuracy. Rendered object sizes are enlarged for clarity. Weather, terrain and buildings affect what you can actually see.

SkyFinder is free with banner, native and occasional interstitial ads. Ads and external links need an internet connection.

Never look directly at the Sun or aim optical equipment at it without appropriate certified solar protection. SkyFinder is an educational observing aid, not a navigation or safety tool.
