cliMATEs

The cliMATES app was developed by the Naturfreundejugend Deutschlands as part of the project "Climate protection in tourism: youth travel as a pioneer in reducing greenhouse gas emissions". The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection as part of the National Climate Protection Initiative.
The aim is to support the full-time and voluntary people who plan and carry out youth trips and other events.

With the help of the integrated CO2 calculator, the emissions that arise during a youth trip should first of all be made visible and comparable. The calculator, which is deliberately kept low, is intended to show which actions are more climate-friendly than others. In addition, trips can be compared with each other.

The library with methods and information on sustainability and climate protection, political commitment, Juleica and other exciting topics and the extensive collection of recipes with an integrated quantity calculator help you acquire the necessary knowledge and start planning the event.

The map of tomorrow has been integrated to easily find future-oriented places and initiatives such as zero-waste shops or community gardens and to visit them during the trip - whether as an itinerary or as a shopping opportunity for group meals. (More information at www.kartevonmorgen.org)

All the building blocks found can be added to a specific trip. This means that all aspects are stored centrally and can be called up again at any time. In addition, notes and daily or weekly plans can be created within a trip.

The handprint concept from Germanwatch has also been integrated into the app. This concept aims to change the given framework conditions in such a way that sustainable action becomes easier and more natural for as many people as possible. With the help of the explanations in the app library, the concept is first explained in an understandable way. The built-in tools from Germanwatch and Brot für die Welt (handprint test and Handel-O-Mat) help to develop concrete project ideas with specific questions and suggestions and thus to get straight to action - preferably directly with your own children or youth group !
