K_Meter

Searching for products using mobile apps on smartphones, reading news on popular websites, watching videos, and consulting maps to find the right address are an integral part of modern life. However, apps and websites aren't always user-friendly, making it difficult to access the information you need. To make your favorite apps and websites better and more convenient, we're conducting this sociological study of the mobile internet audience.

Participation in the study is an opportunity to directly influence app and website developers, advertisers, and manufacturers of various products. We study the audience of mobile internet users in Kazakhstan – their interests, profiles, and consumer preferences. This data helps major companies across the country better understand their consumers, develop their internet services, and make them more user-friendly.

All participants are randomly selected and receive a personal invitation containing detailed information about the study. Voluntary participation is not possible.

Each participant installs the K_Meter app on their personal mobile device (smartphone/tablet) and enters a unique registration code. The app then runs in the background and requires no active intervention. Simply check the app's functionality once a day (or every few days) in the "Statistics" section. If any issues arise, an error message will appear in the main window when you open the app. If necessary, each participant can contact technical support using the contact information provided in their individual invitation or within the app.

We guarantee the protection of the personal data of study participants. All information we collect is completely confidential and is included in the final statistics only in an anonymized and aggregated form.

Using the Accessibility Service API:
We use the Accessibility Service to collect data about visited web resources (domains) and search queries. All data is encrypted during transmission and used anonymously and strictly anonymized, and is not shared with third parties. The app never uses the Accessibility Service to perform any active actions on the user's behalf. Enabling this service improves the quality of our research on the popularity of online resources.

Using a Virtual Private Network (VPN):
Since K_Meter is an app for studying mobile app and website audiences, it uses VPNService as its primary means of monitoring mobile app usage by research panel participants. K_Meter uses the VPN service as a local tunnel and does not send VPN traffic to the server. Metadata collected using the VPN service is processed and analyzed directly on the research participant's device. Aggregated and anonymized app usage monitoring data does not contain any personal or confidential user data and is transmitted to the company's servers only in encrypted form.
