Chalk Draft

Chalk Draft is a quiet, offline notes app built around the feel of a real drafting pad. White cards on a cool blue-white desk, cobalt rule lines, charcoal type. Five modes, free-form tags, the whole pad at your thumb.

FIVE DRAFT MODES

Sketch: free prose. A morning idea, a paragraph, a loose thought.
Tasks: a checklist. Tap any line to tick it off.
Outline: a clean bullet list, one point per line.
Quote: a pull quote with a vertical left bar.
Code: monospace snippets for recipes, commands, anything fixed-width.

Pick the mode when you start a draft, change it any time from the editor.

THE HOME PAD

A clean top header with the brand, today's date, and your current day-run streak as a compact badge. Below it, a single search field, four filter tabs (All, Pinned, Recent, Archived), and three quick stat chips: drafts on the pad, edits today, archived count.

Below the stats, two side-by-side action buttons: "New Draft" (solid cobalt, left) and "Quick List" (outline, right). Tap either to open the compose sheet with the matching mode pre-selected. The rest of the pad follows below: pinned drafts on top, then the full list in your chosen sort order.

Each draft card has a left-side coloured accent stripe, a small corner mark, faint grid dots across the surface, the title in bold sans-serif, a one-line preview, and a tag chip at the bottom-left with word count on the right.

THE EDITOR

Tap a card to open it. Header has back, pin and archive controls. A thin teal accent line runs under the header. Then the title field, the mode selector row, the body input (switches to monospace in code mode), and a tag field. A short revision history shows every create, edit, and archive event with timestamps. A save bar at the bottom shows unsaved state and a "save draft" button.

A delete button in the danger zone removes the draft with a confirmation prompt.

TAGS

A second screen lists every tag with draft counts and a by-mode breakdown of the whole pad. Tap a tag to filter the drafts inside; tap again to clear.

SETTINGS

- Dark theme on or off (switches to the midnight navy palette).
- Font size: small, regular, large.
- Default mode for new drafts.
- Sort order: recent edit, title, manual, mode.
- Show archived in home list.
- Soft haptics on or off.
- Tag manager (long-press rename).
- Clear the archive.
- Delete all drafts.

THE WEEK

A seven-cell strip shows your edits per day for the past week. Today is cobalt; earlier days are teal; days with no edits are a small grey tick.

A quiet record of consistency:
- Three days at the desk
- A week of clean pages
- Two weeks in the studio
- A month of daily drafts
- One hundred days of work
- Half a year at the desk
- A full year of drafts

OFFLINE AND PRIVATE

- Entirely offline. No internet required.
- Your drafts stay on your device.
- Encrypted with AES at rest, key held in the secure keystore.
- No analytics, no accounts, no tracking.
