Monitoreo de Incendios

By: Wolcken App
It monitors forest fires, hotspots, and risk levels in Bolivia.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Fire Monitoring is an independent, non-governmental application for monitoring forest fires, hotspots, and risk conditions in Bolivia.

It allows users to view satellite detections of hotspots from NASA FIRMS and, separately, fire reports manually entered by users. It also presents meteorological information, risk estimates, and territorial data through maps.

The following are all the external data sources and services currently used by Fire Monitoring:

INFORMATION SOURCES

• NASA FIRMS:

https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/ The only external source of satellite detections of hotspots and thermal anomalies. The data is stored and processed on the platform's systems.

A detection of a hotspot or thermal anomaly is NOT automatically considered a confirmed forest fire. NASA FIRMS detections are kept separate from user reports.

• NASA MODIS – MOD13Q1.061:
https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/products/mod13q1v061/
Source of NDVI and EVI vegetation indices used as environmental variables to estimate risk.

• NASA Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM):
https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/data/instruments/srtm
Source of the digital elevation model used to obtain topographic variables such as elevation, slope, and aspect.

• MapBiomas:

https://mapbiomas.org/
Source of historical land cover and land use data for Bolivia used as environmental variables to estimate risk.

• GADM:

https://gadm.org/
Source of administrative boundaries used for the territorial representation of Bolivia.

• WeatherAPI:

https://www.weatherapi.com/
Primary source of meteorological data.

• Open-Meteo:

https://open-meteo.com/
Alternative weather source and historical weather data.

• MapTiler:

https://www.maptiler.com/
Provider of cartography and base maps for geographic visualization.

USER REPORTS

Fire reports manually entered by users are content generated within Fire Monitoring and do not originate from an external source. They are kept separate from NASA FIRMS satellite detections.

PROCESSING AND RISK ESTIMATES

Fire Monitoring processes data on hotspots, meteorology, vegetation, land cover, and topography using its own systems to generate visualizations, indicators, and risk estimates.

The estimates and results are generated by Fire Monitoring's own systems and do not constitute official information issued by NASA, MapBiomas, GADM, WeatherAPI, Open-Meteo, MapTiler, or government entities.

NOTICE OF NO GOVERNMENT AFFILIATION

Fire Monitoring is an independent, non-governmental application. It does NOT represent, is NOT affiliated with, and DOES NOT act on behalf of the Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, NASA, United States government agencies, or any other governmental entity.

The use of information from public or governmental agencies does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, authorization, or affiliation.

The information, visualizations, reports, indicators, and estimates are for informational and monitoring support purposes.

For official and up-to-date information on emergencies, forest fires, evacuations, or instructions to the public, please consult the relevant authorities directly.
