Pause, Please

Most of us spend much more time on our most distracting apps than we ever intend to, perhaps because we don't stop to ask ourselves what we actually want to do.

Pause, Please won't answer that question for you, but it will help you to you ask it. Set a daily time budget for each app you'd like to use less. When this budget runs out, Pause, Please gently stops you and asks you a few questions - not to test you, but to help you check in with yourself. If you work through them all, you earn more time. If one of them makes you reconsider, the app will point you toward something you actually want to do.

The built-in reflection is just a starting point:

- Write your own questions to make each check-in feel personal and meaningful to you.
- Customize a schedule to adjust your app budgets to the time of day: different limits for work hours, evenings, or weekends.
- Set personal goals for what to do instead when the urge hits.
- Track your usage history over time to see your progress!
- If you want extra accountability, optional settings make it harder to bend your own rules.
