helga - a Galaxy of Skincare

My experiences with my skin and skincare haven't always been smooth sailing. More often than not, they have been pretty frustrating and often discouraging (Team skincare-but-my-skin-doesn't-care anyone?). I got pretty tired of feeling like this and eventually decided to do something about it.

From hitchhiking through an expansive (and expanding) amassment of skincare in search of your possible-next-fav, to helping you check in on you and your skin health so you can better understand your skin and figure out which skincare products are working for you, and which ones aren't - helga can help with that.

What's in store? Here's a quick preview:
Tools for exploration
- Filters to easily navigate your explorations. Looking for a day cream, with an SPF rating of 50 or higher, which includes ingredients which can address acne and hyperpigmentation? helga can help you find it.
- *avb Stats and Punch Card Stats to quickly find your possible-next-fav with ease.

Tools for product tracking
- Keep lots of skincare products? You might want to keep track of when they'll expire because using a skincare product past its prime isn't the best of ideas. helga has Bottles which can help you with this.

Tools for checking in
(There are quite of a few of these because taking the next best step for your skincare requires knowing and understanding your skin first)
- Check in on your skincare, and menstrual cycle. Am I breaking out or purging? Wait, is it my period instead (if this applies to you)? When you check in, you'll learn the answers to these questions pretty soon.
- A Skin Cycle, at last. This will help you see how your skin is progressing and see how things have really been. No more guessing, this time you can know for sure.
- Create captures (i.e., selfies of your skin at a point in time) for each skin cycle and use them to see the progress your skin has made during a skin cycle. No more guessing (I really don't like guessing). And no more mirror-starring either (I like this even less).
- A calendar for viewing how your skin health has progressed over time. Did your skin get better? Now you'll know when and you could figure out why.
- Creating and keeping track of your day- and night-time **m.o.s and insights on which skincare products in your m.o.s are addressing you skin concerns, and which ones you like and don't like.

There's a lot more in store and it just might be quite the adventure.

*avb Stats and Punch Card Stats are helga's fancy terms for quick summaries of a product’s ingredients list.
- avb is short-hand for the acids / vitamins / botanicals in a product, and
- Punch Card Stats refers to the number of skin concerns a product can potentially address according to the ingredients included in its ingredients list known to address those skin concerns.
*m.o.s is the term we use to refer to skincare routines. It helps us bring some clarity so it stuck.
