Branchline: Train Tracks

Branchline is a Train Tracks logic puzzle. You get a grid, a number beside every row and column, and a couple of pieces of track already laid. Your job is to work out where the rest of the line runs.

The numbers do the telling. Each one counts how many cells in that row or column carry track. There is nothing to guess: every board has exactly one solution, and reasoning alone will always get you there.

If you like nonograms, sudoku or slitherlink, this is that kind of thinking on a railway map.

HOW TO PLAY

Tap a cell and pick a piece. There are six of them, two straights and four curves.

Two more markers let you think out loud. Use one when you know track passes through a cell but not yet which piece it is. Use the other when you have proved a cell stays empty. Undo and redo as much as you want, and erase anything.

WHAT IS IN IT

Five grid sizes, 1,000 puzzles in each:

Easy 5x5
Gentle 6x6
Medium 8x8
Hard 10x10
Expert 12x12

Inside every size the puzzles are ordered by measured difficulty, so puzzle 1 is the gentlest board of that size and puzzle 1,000 is the most stubborn one. The ramp runs inside a level, not just between levels.

No account, no sign up, no email address. Nothing about you is collected, stored or transmitted.

It opens and plays with no connection at all, which is the whole point of a puzzle you take on a train.

The clock counts up and nothing ever expires. There is no countdown, no lives and no move limit. Take an hour over one board if you feel like it.
