Features & Capabilities

Kolam Studio is a drawing app for creating traditional South Indian kolam patterns and intricate mandala art — right on your phone or tablet.

Whether you're a kolam artist keeping a daily tradition alive, or you just love the meditative symmetry of mandala drawing, Kolam Studio gives you precision tools built specifically for this style of art, not a generic sketchpad.

FEATURES

Dot-Grid Foundation
• Traditional pulli (dot) grid with adjustable spacing and precision presets
• Snap-to-dot drawing for authentic kolam geometry

Mandala & Radial Symmetry
• Configurable radial segments (3–24) and rings
• Draw once, see it mirrored instantly around the full circle
• Live 360° Mirror Mode — every stroke you draw repeats across all segments in real time, so you can build vibrant, perfectly symmetric patterns as you go, changing colors between strokes for multi-color designs

Precision Drawing Tools
• Pen tool with editable Bézier curves and anchor points
• Continue drawing from any open path endpoint — no need to start over
• Brush and Curve tools with independent width controls
• Shape tools for common kolam motifs

Editing & Organization
• Full undo/redo history
• Move, rotate, resize, and recolor any element after drawing it
• Save your own custom shapes to a personal shape library
• Organize designs in a gallery with multi-select export

Export & Share
• Export designs as high-resolution PNG images
• Export as PDF (including multi-select batch export from the gallery)
• Record and export your drawing process as video
• Share directly to any app via your device's share sheet

Privacy First
• No account or sign-in required
• No ads, no analytics, no tracking
• Everything is stored locally on your device
• Photo access is used only if you choose to import a reference image — nothing is ever uploaded

Kolam Studio is built for anyone who loves geometric, symmetric art: traditional kolam and rangoli practitioners, mandala artists, meditation and mindfulness drawing, or anyone who enjoys the calming repetition of pattern-making.
