Candor is a private journal. Open the app, write, close it. That's the whole product.

Your words are encrypted the moment you type them and never leave your phone unless you ask them to. A small AI — running entirely on-device — quietly reflects your patterns back when you want to read them. No cloud accounts. No social feed. No engagement metrics. No one reading over your shoulder.


WRITE
• Open to a blank page. Auto-saves as you type.
• Capture from anywhere: share sheet, home-screen widget, lock-screen voice tile, "Hey Google, take a note."
• Voice journaling with on-device transcription (Whisper or multilingual Omnilingual ASR).
• Attach photos and audio to any entry.
• Draft safeguard: a process kill loses at most 100 ms of typing.

PRIVACY BY CONSTRUCTION
• AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption on every entry.
• Master key wrapped by the Android Keystore (hardware-backed on supported devices).
• SQLCipher full-database encryption as a second layer.
• Biometric or passphrase unlock. Idle auto-lock.
• No analytics. No tracking. No ads. Ever.

ON-DEVICE AI
• Reflect: the Sparkle button reads your entry and writes back a short reflection, what may be worth adding, and one question to sit with.
• Lens: scans your recent entries for emotional themes and patterns.
• Buddy: a quiet conversational partner anchored to a specific entry, using Motivational Interviewing and Socratic questioning.
• All AI runs locally via Google AI Edge LiteRT-LM. Default model: Gemma 4 E4B. GPU-accelerated where available, with automatic CPU fallback.
• Works offline. Always.

ORGANIZE
• Categories, favorites, and full-text search across every entry.
• Year-in-reflection heatmap.
• Mood tracking — automatic on-device sentiment, or pick from a 22-emotion grid.
• Library grid view for visual browsing.

OWN YOUR DATA
• Export to plain text or to an Obsidian vault (markdown + frontmatter + attachments).
• Import an existing Obsidian vault — your old journal comes with you.
• Encrypted .ilbk backup format for full-fidelity round-trips.

A journal is the place where you write what you actually think. The messy draft before the polished version. The fears you haven't said aloud. That content is not a product. It should not be processed, analyzed, retained, or monetized by anyone but you.
