Rankimo: Build Your Own Chess

Chess, stripped down to one idea.

Both players get exactly the same army — five rooks against five rooks, three knights against three knights, or whatever you choose. There is no king to protect, no check, and no checkmate. Just you, your pieces, and a clear goal.

That one change makes chess approachable. Instead of learning six pieces and a book of rules at once, you learn one piece at a time by actually playing with it. It is how chess coaches teach beginners — and now it is a game.

── HOW IT WORKS ──

Pick your piece: pawn, knight, bishop, rook, queen, king, or a random mix.
Pick how many, and how big the board is (6x6, 8x8, or 10x10).
Then pick how you want to win:

⚔️ ANNIHILATION — take down every last enemy piece
🏁 RACE — get any piece to an empty square on the far side first
🎯 SKIRMISH — be the first to capture half their army

Pieces move exactly as they do in real chess, so everything you learn here carries straight over to the real game.

Every game earns XP. Your rank climbs the chess ladder — Pawn, Knight, Bishop, Rook, Queen, King, and finally Grandmaster. Sixteen trophies wait for things like winning without losing a piece, or taking a ten-game streak.
