The board and the moves

The field is a dot grid, 8 by 10 squares, with a goal centered on the top line and on the bottom line. The ball begins in the middle. Players alternate turns, moving the ball one step in any of eight directions, horizontal, vertical or diagonal, and each move draws a line between two dots.

Once drawn, that line is used up. Neither player can travel it again, so the field steadily fills with the history of your own game and each choice narrows the next one.

Bounces are the whole game

Whenever the ball hits a sideline, a goalpost, or a dot it has already passed through, it rebounds and the same player moves again. Chain those rebounds and a single turn can take the ball from midfield all the way into the net. Building those corridors, and denying them to your opponent, is what separates a beginner from a strong player.

A goal is scored only when the ball lands exactly at the center of the goal line, between the posts. Push it into your own goal and that counts too. If it is your turn and no legal move remains, you lose the round. Each player also has a clock for the round, three minutes by default, and running it out loses the round the same way. Matches are played to three goals.

Three ways to play

Against the AI at three difficulty levels: Easy, Medium and Expert. Easy is a comfortable place to learn how rebounds work. Expert calculates several moves ahead and punishes a careless corridor immediately.
