User reviews
SeriesGuide is a popular app praised for its comprehensive show tracking, syncing features, and detailed episode management. However, users commonly report syncing problems leading to data loss, update failures causing missed episodes, and database inaccuracies after switching data sources. Many express frustration with price increases and changes to payment models. While effective overall, some find the app's interface navigation cumbersome. Despite these issues, loyal users appreciate its wide functionality and syncing across devices, making it a valuable tool for TV and movie tracking.
Pros
- Great interface and feature-rich, supporting many shows and syncing with Trakt.
- Helpful for managing shows and movies watched, including watchlists and tracking new episodes.
- Cloud syncing across multiple devices is beneficial for users with many shows.
- Includes special episodes and crossover episode markings, enhancing tracking accuracy.
- Long-term user satisfaction with regular usability and thorough database for most shows.
Cons
- Frequent syncing and data loss issues, especially with Trakt integration causing local data overwrite.
- App sometimes fails to update shows and episodes, requiring manual refresh or causing missed episodes.
- Database inaccuracies and missing popular/active shows due to move from TVDB to TMDB, causing incomplete listings.
- Recent price hikes and subscription changes, including removal of old purchase benefits, frustrate users.
- Interface navigation is awkward, such as difficulty marking episodes watched or viewing episode titles efficiently.
Recent reviews
Pretty good, but occasional issues cause data loss. A couple months ago, Trakt went down for a few days. NBD, except SeriesGuide lost all my local unsynced data when Trakt came back online. New shows I'd added or started watching during the period Trakt was offline were overwritten by the cloud state, even though the Trakt data was like 3-4 days old at that point. That sort of thing aside, I wish SeriesGuide had better support for rewatching of shows; only the most basic rewatch support exists.

Alright the tracker has gotten really bad. Shows I've finished watching years ago randomly pop up as unwatched. "Hide watched" is no longer useful which makes tracking shows a pain. Used to be a good app, but this bug ruins it for me, and it has been happening for a while now.
