User Reviews

Top recurring points: Android compatibility issues with older app builds and newer Android versions; inability to save videos or snapshots; inconsistent performance across devices; and delayed or unclear support/updates. Some users do report good image quality and ease of use when it works, but reliability and compatibility concerns dominate.

Pros

Clear picture and ease of use when the app functions
Works on some devices, including older Android devices
Relatively straightforward process to connect to the transmitter via Wi‑Fi and view the image at long range

Cons

App is built for an older version of Android and does not play well with newer versions (e.g., Android 14)
Cannot record video or save snapshots in many cases (video saving errors reported)
Slow or no timely updates from Caldwell; support frequently says they are working on it with no ETA
Inconsistent performance across devices (works on some devices but not others, including certain Samsung models)
Reliability issues such as the app not starting or crashing after updates

This new version doesn't work well with android 14, at least on my samsung phone and tablet. As it says it needs no permissions, though the app opens and connects to the camera, you can not record video, or save snapshots showing targets. I contacted Customer Support, and was told that they were aware and working on a fix. Time will tell if that happens. Now it's December and still no update. I keep getting the same story that they're trying to make 1 app for their Chrony & Camera

Don't buy a Target Cam system. Caldwell has no way of letting you monitor the system since this app is broken and they won't fix and update it. I've called multiple times over the last two years to inquire when it will be fixed and the canned response I keep receiving is they are working on it... Shame on you Caldwell!
