WeVol helps neighbors in Lake Charles volunteer, share, and support one another.
WeVol is a free, community-driven platform built to strengthen the Lake Charles community by making it easy for neighbors to volunteer, share resources, and support one another. Whether you want to give your time, give away items you no longer need, ask for help, find local services, or say thank you to someone who made a difference, WeVol brings it all together in one accessible place.
Volunteer Opportunities
Local organizations and individuals can post opportunities across categories including environment, education, health, community outreach, animal welfare, disaster relief, senior services, youth programs, and food banks. Each listing includes a description, location, date and time, spots available, contact information, and any special requirements. Members can browse, search, and filter by category, then express interest directly. The integrated calendar provides a chronological view of upcoming opportunities, making it easy to plan ahead.
Community Forum
The forum is a space for open discussion where members can start threads, share ideas, ask questions, and respond to one another. It fosters dialogue on topics that matter to the community and supports a respectful, moderated environment.
Free Stuff and Wanted Boards
WeVol includes a Free Stuff board where members can post items they are giving away — clothing, furniture, food, electronics, toys, and tools — so that usable goods find new homes instead of landfills. The Wanted board lets members post requests for items or help they need. Both boards support photos, pickup locations, and contact details, creating a simple, neighborly exchange system.
Special Thanks
The Special Thanks feature allows members to publicly express gratitude and recognize individuals who have made a positive impact, shining a light on the good work happening in Lake Charles.
Resources Directory and Family Events
The Resources directory provides a curated listing of local services and organizations, organized by category, to help connect residents with the help they need — from food assistance to housing support and healthcare. The Family Events page highlights community gatherings and activities suitable for all ages.
Dashboard and Profiles
Each user has a personal dashboard to manage their volunteer profile, including name, contact information, location, interests, and availability, with the ability to upload a profile photo and update details anytime. The dashboard also includes the ability to permanently delete an account, giving users full control over their data.
Moderation, Safety, and Privacy
Users can report content that violates guidelines and block other users from interacting with them. The Privacy Policy explains what data is collected and how it is used, and users can request data deletion through a simple process. Phone numbers, when provided, are used solely as optional contact information so members can reach one another about listings and opportunities.
Accessibility
WeVol works seamlessly on mobile devices and desktop computers, with a clean, modern interface that supports both light and dark modes. Navigation is intuitive, with a bottom tab bar on mobile keeping the most important features within easy reach.
WeVol is a digital town square for Lake Charles, where neighbors help neighbors and everyone has a role in building a stronger, more connected community.
