Overview

Features & Capabilities

SquadCom is a secure peer-to-peer messenger app for small groups, teams, families, and squads that want to stay connected without traditional account infrastructure.

Create an invite-based squad, add trusted members by QR code or invite link, and communicate through end-to-end encrypted chat. When enabled, squad members can also share their live location on a shared map, including background location sharing for groups that need ongoing situational awareness.

SquadCom is built around privacy and direct coordination. You do not need a phone number, email address, or real-name profile. Messages, squad data, and location history are stored locally on your device, and live location is shared only with the squad members you choose.

Key features

- Private group chat: End-to-end encrypted messaging inside each squad.
- Live location sharing: See squad members on a shared map with near real-time updates.
- Optional background location: Keep sharing your location while the app is not open, if you explicitly enable it.
- Movement-aware updates: SquadCom can use activity recognition to keep location updates relevant when you are moving or stationary.
- No accounts or sign-up: No phone number, email address, or central username required.
- Invite-based squads: Add members using QR codes or invite links shared outside the app.
- Peer-to-peer communication: SquadCom exchanges messages directly between squad members using Tor onion services.
- Local-first storage: Messages and squad data stay on your device.
- Multiple squads: Coordinate with different groups independently.

How it works

One device creates a squad. Other members join by invite. Messages and location updates are exchanged directly between squad members, and each user decides whether live location sharing is enabled.

SquadCom is for

- Small teams that need private communication
- Volunteer teams and local coordination groups
- Groups that want location awareness without advertising-based tracking
- People who prefer communication without central account infrastructure
- Families, friends, and small private groups

SquadCom is not a public social network, not an advertising-based location app, and not a health, fitness, or medical tracking app.
