Sting Ops is a personal safety recording app designed for journalists, activists, and anyone who may face coercion, device seizure, or physical threats. One promise: whatever happens to your phone — seized, smashed, or force-stopped — the evidence reaches your trusted contacts.

🎬 LIVE BACKUP
Unlike traditional recorders that upload after you stop, Sting Ops continuously uploads live video to secure cloud storage while you record. The server is never more than a few seconds behind live which is auto-shared to recipients in scheduled time — so your evidence survives device seizure or destruction.

⏱ DEAD MAN'S SWITCH
A server-side monitor checks your heartbeat signal every minute. If your phone goes silent for a configurable period (45–600 seconds), your trusted contacts are automatically alerted with the live recorded footage. No action required from you.

🔒 DURESS CODE SYSTEM
Set two codes: a safe stop code and a duress (fake) code. If you're forced to stop recording:
• Safe code — recording stops cleanly, no alert is sent
• Duress code — the app appears to stop, but quietly finishes uploading in the background, then immediately delivers everything to your contacts

📧 INSTANT DELIVERY
When a trigger fires — duress code or Dead Man's Switch — your contacts receive an email alert instantly. A follow-up email with the full assembled recording is sent automatically. Files under 24MB are attached directly; larger ones get a secure 7-day download link.

📱 DUAL QUALITY RECORDING
Record simultaneously in two quality streams:
• High-quality (720p or 1080p) kept locally on your device
• Lightweight stream uploaded continuously for cloud safety backup

Bad connection? No problem. Smart Live Recording Backup never stops or corrupts due to network issues. Segments queue on your device and drain automatically when connectivity returns.

🛡 END-TO-END SECURITY
• All stop/duress codes are SHA-256 hashed with your device salt — never stored in plaintext
• Code fields show masked dots — the hash is never displayed
• Anonymous device-based authentication — no personal accounts required

Browse all your high-quality recordings organized by session. Play, share, or delete individual parts or entire sessions. Multi-part recordings from long sessions are automatically grouped.

🔙 BACK-BUTTON PROTECTION
While recording, the Android back button is blocked to prevent accidental navigation away from the recording screen.
