Aurora Run

Aurora Run is a fast, one-thumb balance game across a snowy ridge beneath the northern lights.

A glowing runner slides forward on its own along a narrow snow ridge suspended in the polar night. The runner always travels on a 45-degree diagonal, and the ridge keeps turning ahead of you under shifting teal, green and violet aurora light. Your only control is a tap: every tap flips the runner ninety degrees -- from up-right to up-left and back. Time each tap so the runner hugs the snow as the ridge zigzags into the dark. Miss a turn and slip off the edge, and the runner falls away into the night -- run over.

Bright stars hang along the ridge. Glide straight through them for a soft chime and bonus points, and sweep as many as you can while you keep your balance. Your score is the distance you run plus every star you catch, so the further and cleaner your run, the higher you climb toward the summit.

Each of the ten trails runs faster than the last, with shorter stretches between turns and less room to mistime a flip. Read the ridge ahead, tap early rather than late, and work your way up under the lights. Every run of a trail is generated from the same seed, so you can learn its rhythm and chase a brighter best score.
