User Reviews

Users appreciate the FAR/AIM app's ease of navigation, digital convenience, and useful layout for professional pilots. However, multiple reviews mention significant issues like unreliable highlighting, limited search capabilities, outdated information, broken links, and missing features such as cross-device sync. These cons hinder study and operational use despite the app's generally positive aspects.
Pros
  • App is easier to navigate and use compared to the paper version or other apps.
  • Provides quick access to FAR/AIM data and useful for studying and professional pilots.
  • The layout and hyperlinks are positively noted by users.
  • Having a digital version is convenient and preferable to carrying physical copies.
  • Fast and easy to use for quick searches.
Cons
  • Highlighting functionality often does not work or is unreliable.
  • Search function is limited, sometimes overwhelming or difficult to narrow results.
  • App data is not updated timely, with some users noting missing 2024 updates.
  • Broken or non-functional links reduce usability.
  • Lack of cross-device synchronization for highlights and other features.
Recent reviews
No (obvious) way to edit search text, and no search history. So if you misspell a search, you must retype the whole thing. Trailing space in search text (added when you tap a suggested word) is erroneously included in the search string and should be automatically trimmed. Section Tables of Contents, as in the printed version, are not included. The "Highlights" page is blank. Given these deficiencies, the GOVREGS app, with it's own minor frustrations, works equally as well, and it's free.
