Features & Capabilities

CameraX is a Jetpack support library designed to simplify Android camera app development by offering a consistent and easy-to-use API compatible across most devices running Android 5.0 (API level 21) and above. Written in Kotlin, it provides a lifecycle-aware, case-based approach built on top of Camera2, addressing device compatibility issues and reducing the amount of code developers need to write.

The library enables developers to integrate advanced camera experiences such as Portrait, HDR, Night, and Beauty effects through optional CameraX Extensions, requiring as little as two lines of code. CameraX enhances ease of use, consistency, and access to new camera capabilities, making it an essential tool for Android developers.
