Camera Remote Watch

Remote control the phone camera shutter from your smartwatch and take a picture

Features & Capabilities

Camera Remote Watch enables you to remotely control your phone's camera shutter directly from your smartwatch. Easily take pictures without physically handling your phone, making it perfect for selfies, group shots, or tricky angles.

Using the app is straightforward: open the Camera Remote Watch app on your phone to set up the camera view. On your smartwatch, launch the app and tap the camera button to trigger the shutter. Photos are saved to your phone's gallery and a copy appears on your watch, letting you preview the shot immediately. User Reviews

Users find that Camera Remote Watch does accomplish the basic purpose of taking photos remotely with a watch but suffers from serious usability issues. Delays of up to 20-30 seconds make it difficult to capture timely shots, and connection errors or failures to save photos frustrate many. The app has poor compatibility with certain devices and lacks advanced camera controls, limiting its usefulness. While it works on some devices and can produce similar photo quality as the default camera app in favorable conditions, overall user experience is hindered by slow responsiveness and frequent errors.
Pros
  • App fulfills the basic function of taking photos remotely via a watch button.
  • Photo quality is comparable to the phone's default camera app in good lighting conditions.
  • Works with certain phone and watch models as advertised.
  • Offers some camera settings to tweak, although limited.
  • Conceptually useful for group photos or scenic shots where the user doesn't want to hold the phone.
Cons
  • Significant delay after pressing the watch button before the photo is taken or transferred, making it impractical for candid shots.
  • Photos often do not save properly or do not appear in the phone gallery after being taken.
  • Frequent camera errors and connection issues between the watch and phone app.
  • Inability to take multiple photos in quick succession; must wait for processing or connection to complete.
  • Limited or poor integration with phone camera features such as flash, night mode, or portrait mode; camera controls are basic and sometimes nonfunctional.

Works but clunky. Once you take a picture with the watch's button, it then slowly transfers the picture to the watch. That makes it really impractical. I didn't see the captire in the gallery after a test.

I just need to take basic group photos at the state park's scenic photo stations without having to run from the phone to the group. After tinkering with the app's camera settings and taking some sample photos, it works as advertised on my Vivo 4 and Galaxy S23 Plus. The photo quality is similar to what I take with the default camera app. It would be nice to have more control of the camera settings, but it gets the job done.
