Utilization of the heritage of the Roman limestone section of Óbuda-Aquincum for complex tourism purposes

The local government of Óbuda-Békásmegyer, the BTM Aquincum Museum and Archaeological Park, the Hungarian Tourism Agency and the Budavár Real Estate Development and Operation Nonprofit Ltd. have successfully launched the VEKOP-4.1.2-17 and won HUF 385 million in EU funding.

Within the framework of the project, a number of new developments will be implemented in Óbuda and at the Aquincum Museum. In the line of our museum's Szentendre road fence, we will create a special promenade showing the ancient civic city, and the museum will be expanded with a new permanent exhibition, which will reveal the life of the Roman army defending Limes to our visitors in an experiential way. Reconstruction plexiglass panels will be placed at the military amphitheater and the eastern gate of the legionary camp in Óbuda, through which visitors can learn about archeological monuments and see what the buildings that defined the ancient cityscape looked like in their heyday.
