DHK Healthy Youth Project

The purpose of the DHK Healthy Youth Project app will be to provide an interactive learning tool for student participants in the DHK Healthy Youth Project to be able to view their lessons, track their food habits, and report their progress. As well as keep up with current DHK Healthy Youth events have access to healthy food recipes and choices to benefit them as well as their families and communities.

Research developed over several years uncovered the correlations between academic performance, emotional and physical health and diet. The Healthy Youth Project seeks to enlighten and empower student participants to choose a healthier lifestyle by introducing various workshops to address natural ways of avoiding chronic diseases through diet.

Additionally, part of the Healthy Youth Project includes healthy cooking demonstrations and development of an urban school garden. Students volunteer to help cultivate the garden along with the organic farming consultant. Students will use the produce to prepare meals for the community to purchase and to help raise money for the school.
