Local Notes: Private Notebook

Local Notes is a private, offline notes app with Markdown, folders, tags, and instant full-text search. No accounts. No sync. No tracking. Your notes live on your device, and only there.

Built for people who just want to write things down without handing their thoughts to a cloud service. Open the app, start typing, and your note is autosaved to a local SQLite database on your phone. No login screen. No "verify your email" emails. No background uploads.

What you can do

• Switch between Light, Dark, and System themes.
• Adjust text size for comfortable reading.

Privacy you can verify
Most "private" apps still phone home for analytics or crash reports. Local Notes does not. You can verify it yourself.
• No INTERNET permission requested in the Android manifest.
• No advertising ID (GAID): explicitly removed from the manifest.
• No analytics, telemetry, crash reporters, or third-party SDKs.
• Cleartext traffic blocked at the OS level.
• Auto Backup and device-to-device transfer are disabled, so your notes cannot leak through Google's automatic copy mechanisms.
• Open source: read every line of code on GitHub.

What it is not
• Not a sync service. There is no server.
• Not a journaling app with mood graphs. It is a notes app.
• Not a wiki or knowledge graph. It is a notes app.

Portability you own
Your notes are yours. Export them to JSON, Markdown, Plain Text, or PDF whenever you want. Import them back on any device. The JSON schema is documented in the project repository so you can pipe your notes into any other tool you trust.
